Hello, I'm Karen

Karen discovered Pilates in her middle-age, seeking to strengthen her core and improve her flexibility for ballet. Soon after, she started a ‘second career’ in fitness and earned her NASM and AFAA certification in group fitness with specializations in Pilates mat, barre and women’s fitness. She also earned NETA certification in Pilates Reformer and is a NASM-certified stretch and flexibility coach. She continues her dance training at Newport Contemporary Ballet. Karen's favorite Reformer exercises are scooter lunges with added glute pumps, and swan dives which challenge both upper-body strength and lower-body control with graceful arabesques. Attention to detail, a personal touch and a full-body workout are at the heart of her classes. When she is not teaching fitness at a variety of locations throughout southern Rhode Island, Karen teaches Public Speaking, Journalism and Public Relations at the University of Rhode Island and works as a freelance writer. She holds a master’s degree in Teaching. Her favorite place is spending time outdoors in the sunshine with her family.
